  • Desirable LHD US-delivered “Special Equipment” model
  • Matching-numbers example purchased as a “barn find” from long-term ownership
  • Recently refreshed example that’s ready to be enjoyed
  • Offered privately for $124,500 USD

Offered from a long-term Sports Car Digest reader and Jaguar enthusiast, this example became available after several decades in 2013 when we shared the car’s availability from the estate of a British car collector. The car was described as a rust-free, barn find that likely needed sorting. Since then the car’s gone through a lengthy, ‘body-on’ rehabilitation that included, but wasn’t limited to the following:

New windscreen glass, refinished paint, new upholstery, including new soft top, lining and boot cover, restored burl walnut interior wood and new BF Goodrich whitewall tires fitted on chrome wire wheels.

The XK120 DHC was the most refined of the open-top XKs for 1953 and this example’s “SE/M” configuration makes it particularly appealing. The package helps accentuate the 120’s performance credentials by offering increased engine output, a dual exhaust and stiffer suspension.

The Drophead has enjoyed plenty of use since the purchase and is described to have been a fan favorite at several shows and events, such as the Greystone Mansion Concours d’Elegance. The seller mentions the car’s collected several trophies during his ownership.

The sale of the car is said to include the following items:

“C-type” 210 hp engine, newly chromed front and rear bumpers, dual exhaust, windscreen washer bottle, tool roll with tools, operator’s manual, factory manual, grease gun, jack and ratchet handle, tire pump, Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate.

The 1953 Jaguar XK120M DHC is being offered privately for $124,500 USD and is available for immediate inspection. The car has been invited to participate in the Pacific Grove Concours and should the car be available during Monterey Car Week, the car will be on site to be viewed on the Monterey Peninsula during the week.
