SCD Motors Success – 1995 Porsche 911 Finds New Home

The 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe from our personal collection recently found a new home with a fitting owner. The new caretaker, a Sports Car Digest reader and Porsche enthusiast, was after a 993-chassis to park alongside his 49k-mile, 1988 911 Carrera Targa.

After months of chasing after 993s advertised to be nicer than they really were, he came across our car and we can only hope he enjoys it half as much as we did. The final generation of the air-cooled 911 lives up to the hype and is without a doubt the most highly developed of the breed.

If you’re interested in experiencing an air-cooled 911, we have several options currently available privately:

I’m sure the new owner won’t regret his decision at all. I was able to find and purchase 18 months ago, a 1997,993 Carrera 4 S, which is just the most delightful car to drive. It’s a manual, with low kms and just as smooth as smooth can be.
I’m also lucky enough to own a 1977,3.0 litre Carrera, which I purchased 32 years ago, with a total engine re-build at the end of 2014.
Totally different cars, with a 20 year difference ,but still the same buzz!!!!!!!!!!

Would love to hear how you’ve addressed the 993 (OBD II: 1996-1998 cars) ongoing ‘Check Engine’ debacle….supposedly due to oil residue build up in the valves (I believe???). My ’96 was nothing but headaches!!! Finally just disconnected the ‘Check Engine’ connection and it ran just fine!!!
