Tuner Treat – 1975 Mazda RX-4

custom show carThis one is pretty different for SCD Motors, but the types of cars out there are as diverse as the people who own them and sometimes an unusual vehicle will catch our eye, even if it doesn’t quite suit our taste. The RX-4 was Mazda’s larger rotary-powered offering in the 1970s, but there’s not really anything ’70s about this example, located in Arcadia, California. It’s gotten the full Fast and Furious treatment, and there really does seem to be too much to list, but here are a few things as provided by the seller:

Full Lexus IS fully reinforced subrame/Firewall with Full Independent Suspension…Turbocharged with Precision GT35R Ball bearing Turbo with Velocity stack intake, Custom Turbo manifold, HKS Race waste gate with open dump tube, Dual HKS blow off valves, Stanless steel hand built down pipe and 3” mandrel cut and welded Exhaust system to a Vibrant Stainless muffler, 1000cc RC injectors, custom 10 gallon Fuel cell, SX fuel pump and regulator with steel braided fuel lines, AEM EMS unit, Spearco Intercooler, Racing radiator, ARP head Studs…

Custom Flared Widebody, Custom Front lip and Grille, Custom shaker hood, Corvette smoked tail lights, Lambo Orange PPG Pristine Paint Job, Interad 18” custom one off wheels, STM Ceramic Tint, Extra Custom one off carbon fiber hood with clear window over engine.

The list goes on and on, and to non-tuner folks half of it frankly just sounds made up, but this car has been at SEMA and has graced the pages of several magazines. It’s not for everybody, to be sure, but it is the product of some intensive labor and craftsmanship and pretty much one of a kind.
