Picked Clean – 1984 Lotus Esprit Turbo

Have you ever seen one of those nature programs where a buffalo gets taken down by a large cat and then is progressively scavenged until all that’s left is bare bones and a few hanging strips of flesh? Well, this is kind of like that, but in car form. Once a 1984 Lotus Esprit Turbo, it was bought as a parts car for a rebuild on another Esprit. Now there’s not much that remains, just the frame, body (damaged in an engine fire), suspension pieces, steering rack and linkage. The seller suggests making an autocross or track car with what’s left. Cool idea, but it seems like way too much headache for what the end result would be. In all likelihood this will continue to be a donor, allowing its few usable parts to live on in other, healthier Esprits. It’s sad to see such a neat car suffer this kind of fate, but that’s how it goes.

Check out the 1984 Lotus Esprit Turbo here on eBay, where the bidding has reached $450.
